Tami draws on her crisis intervention skills, assessment, interviewing techniques and collaboration with her patients to develop a personalized plan that is specific to their needs.
Tami possesses strong clinical skills enhanced by her natural ability to build rapport with patients and families. Her ultimate goal is to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to individuals struggling with mental health issues and empower them with hope as they develop resilience in their journey. She provides medication management and focuses on mental wellness by treating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, attention deficit disorder, schizophrenia, and more.
As a PMHNP, Tami’s role is multifaceted; crisis worker, educator, and mental health advocate. She is passionate about working with individuals with bipolar disorder and started a bipolar support group in October of 2022.
Her group meets weekly at Smokey Row in Des Moines every Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. Ask her for more details.
She is the mother to three grown children, two “adopted” children that have married into the family and one grand-puppy. She has a love for dogs, reading psychological thriller books, and will welcome her first grandchild in the fall.
"Tami took the time to fully understand my history, goals and needs. She didn't just see me as a patient, she saw me as a whole person. Knowing I'm truly seen and treated with compassion and understanding has been a huge part of my successful treatment."
Ben, West Des Moines
"Tami instantly connected with my teenager and was kind and sensitive to his needs. My son was very against seeking treatment until he met Tami and felt understood. I am very thankful for Tami and as my son said it best "It is great to know there are still good people in this world that truly want to help others."
Kristy, Ankeny
"Tami's years of experience in the mental health field made me feel comfortable with her judgement. I feel like she takes the time to really connect with her patients. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate and knowledgeable provider."

"Tami took time to listen to what I had to say in an empathetic and professional manner. She assessed my needs and listened to me in order to get a better understanding of what I have been dealing with in regards to my mental health. She was knowledgeable about medications and the options that could be most beneficial for my diagnosis."
